Dry Needling

Dry needling is a therapy that has developed more recently starting in England in the 1930’s and progressing steadily during the 1950’s and beyond in the United States. Dry needling utilizes fine filament needles inserted into non-specific areas of neuro-muscular irritation and dysfunction in order to control pain and treat neuro-muscular conditions primarily. Dry needling treatments utilize more modern theories such as the gate control theory of pain to explain treatment results.

Dry needling needles are usually inserted for less time. Dry needling needles are frequently inserted deeply. Dry needling treatments are less specific. Dry needling is not Acupuncture.
